Internet users in the UK
The data of recent and lapsed internet users and non-internet users of the past few years in the UK was processed and analysed. This project aims to evaluate if it seems profitable project for a market leader in Asia in Telecommunication sector to initiate its operations in the United Kingdom along with suggestions on the groups of people to focus on for visible growth
It was noticed that the count of total users has been linearly increasing year on year. But, results were interesting when the data of individual groups were examined and analysed suggesting that the count in few groups were increasing over the years whereas the count was reducing in few groups in the same period.
The student group can be focussed since the existing competitors have failed to get a stronghold on them as indicated by their reducing count year on year. People aged between 25 and 44 years are significant towards the growth of total users. People aged 75+ slowly seem to be adapting towards technology. Hence, expansion of operations into the UK would definitely be profitable if the appropriate groups are catered to through marketing and promotional offers. Further data is needed to analyse other factors affecting the growth of users. This data can be used to further analyse in depth and identify the sensitive areas to focus on for better results.
On basis of the analysis and inferences, it is safe to conclude that though the United Kingdom telecommunications’ market looks to be saturated, it can be penetrated if the plans are devised meticulously by keeping all important aspects in mind. The projections also seem to be in favour of new entrants, where the data suggests further availability of potential users under certain groups that are yet to subscribe for various reasons. These groups need to be primarily focussed and catered to, based on their needs. Further studies can also be carried out to enhance the specific details of our plan so as to build and enhance the user base by entering the United Kingdom market.
